HOW TO TIE THE SKYKOMISH SUNRISE STEELHEAD FLY

STEELHEAD FLY: Skykomish Sunrise A classic Pacific Northwest standby. Created by George McCloud in the 1930's, it has become a staple for steelhead and Alaska big fish hunters.


HOOK SIZES:  1, 2, 4, 6  or Alec Jackson sizes 1.5, 3, 5

HOOK OPTIONS: Tiemco 202SPMustad 36890 , Daiichi 2441 , Alec Jackson Steelhead Irons

THREAD:  Red Danville 6/0

TAG: Flat Silver Mylar tinsel (Often optional)

TAIL: Yellow and orange Hackle Fibers mixed

BODY:  Red Chenille or Reddish-Orange Dubbing

RIBBING: Oval Silver Tinsel

HACKLE: Orange and Red Saddle Hackle wrapped mixed tied as a collar and tied back and down

WING: White Calf Tail hair

CHEEKS:(optional) Jungle cock or substitute
