HOW TO TIE THE GOLD-RIBBED HARE'S EAR NYMPH


Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear Nymph

The Hare's Ear Nymph (better known as the Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear) is tied with the buggy hairs and underfur from the ear and face area of the wild hare. This classic nymph pattern has been around for a long time, and just keeps getting better. An effective general imitation of mayfly nymphs, especially Baetis, stonefly nymphs, caddis larvae, freshwater shrimp, or any of a dozen other forms of trout food.

HOOK SIZES: 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20

HOOK OPTIONS: Tiemco 3761, Daiichi 1260 if tying with Bead Head

WEIGHT: 5-6 wraps non-toxic lead wire substitute under thorax if desired. May also be tied as a Bead Head pattern

TAIL: Hare's Mask guard hairs

RIB: Small gold flat or oval tinsel

ABDOMEN: Natural hare's mask dubbing
